AP Biology:

  1. Students have completed work on Biomolecules and have been tested on this material
  2. Notes and questions for DNA / Protein Synthesis have been provided to students
  3. Students are asked to complete all review questions on this topic for next class

Biology 12:

  1. Biomolecules test is scheduled for Monday November 7th, 2011 – 45 multiple choice questions in total
  2. Our next topic will be DNA / Protein Synthesis

Biology 11 / 11E:

  1. Evolution projects should be handed in with works cited
  2. Students spent two classes looking at taxonomy with an emphasis on Dichotomous Keys and the 5 Kingdom System of classification
  3. Our next topic is Viruses (Chapter 7)
  4. Students should have completed all vocabulary from Chapter 7 and both sets of review questions (p. 199 and p. 205)

  2. Complete Properties of Biological Macromolecules Chart
  3. Complete All Questions from Review Package at end of Notes

Biology 11E / 11:

  1. Complete Evolution Project – Due Day 1 on Mon Oct 24th and Day 2 on Tue Oct 25th

AP Biology:

  1. Complete all worksheet questions handed out in class including review package
  2. Read Chapter 2 of Online Text and Complete Questions
  3. Go through topic checklist and determine your own progress

Biology 11 Evolution Project – Post on Discussion Board

Remember to register for the 'Discussion' board and post your project proposal by Thursday September 29th.  I will comment on each proposal and provide feedback.  Also remember that you need a minimum of 3 citations and you can use www.easybib.com to create MLA citations.  Also use www.discoveryeducation.com for videos and the Gladstone Library page for Webcat and Database access.  Good luck with your projects.

Test, Quiz & Project Update

Biology 11 / 11E:

  1. Evolution Project Assigned September 19th and 20th.  Due date will be October 24th and 25th.
  2. Cell / Microscope Quiz: Wednesday September 21st and Thursday September 22nd.

Biology 12:

  1. Cell Structure & Function Quiz: Wednesday September 21st

AP Biology:

  1. Cell / Cell Membrane Test: Tuesday September 27th and Wednesday September 28th.

Biology 12 & AP students were given class time to complete questions on the Cell (structure and function).  We will be completing this unit this week and moving on to the Cell Membrane.

Biology 11 & 11E students were given an introductory lesson to the microscope, including structure / function, magnification and field of view calculations.

Summary: Friday Sept 9, 2011

Biology 12:

  1. Textbooks handed out and Vocabulary from Chapter 21 completed.
  2. Review of parts of the cell
  3. Students asked to download cell notes and can optionally complete Part A: Vocabulary from Cell Worksheet handed out in class

Biology 11 & 11E:

  1. Textbooks distributed
  2. Vocabulary from Chapter 1 pps. 20-35 completed in-class
  3. Discussion: Cell Theory and Cell Structure / Function
  4. Questions p. 30 & 35 assigned for completion

AP Biology:

  1. Homework check: Chapter 1 Questions
  2. In-class assignment: Relationship between parts of cell to produce, package and transport a protein
  3. Cell Notes and Worksheets handed out in-class
  4. Part B & C of worksheet assigned for homework

  1. AP Bio 12: Read Chapter 1: What is Biology and answer both sets of 'Lesson Review' Questions.  DO NOT Answer the 'Points to Consider' Questions.
